A wellness goal can be as simple as stretching two times a day for the next three months.

Do you feel like you have tried to set goals and never met them at all?

We will discuss that later on how to prevent this.

Wellness goals are things you want to improve on health-wise. You will want to build a plan to make these goals reachable and attainable.

Understanding that goals are to be reached in a timely matter (two or three months) or they will be overlooked, your goals need to be short. That way, you know you can reach them, such as getting more sleep at night (going to bed early). Sleep can promote more growth, or for kids and adults, this can promote clear thinking.

Anyone can set wellness goals. Everyone has a goal in life; if you are a kid, your goal is to learn to drive because you want a car. You have to set little goals to get that car.

Well, yes, You have to work hard to pay it off and keep up with a monthly bill unless you got all kinds of money and you can get it like that. But that still does not defeat the goal he had to get the best car, so he went shopping and looking around to find the best car that his money can buy.

Whether you are poor or rich, you can have goals, and you need to get there, so you make little goals to achieve that big goal you are looking for.

These are stepping stones, and on those stones, there are little goals such as saving 25 dollars for every paycheck. It is reasonable and reachable. Go to bed at 9 o’clock every night to get the best rest for the next working day. If you work 12-hour shifts, then you must have a plan in hand.

He wants you to know that you are not alone in this.

Why do I need wellness goals?

You do not need wellness goals, but it guides you to stay on the right track of being healthy. You will be doing it so much you will not even notice your diet or think of junk food or argue with that clerk at the store.

Wellness goals are not just eating healthy they can be mental health, such as your cognitive thinking. If you are always negative against others, then you might want to consider trying some wellness goals.

Please do not be ashamed of being like this I used not to be a peoples person and wanted to be alone all the time, this was depression and didn’t even realize it.

I did not go to a therapist; I did my own research and came up with music in a dark, quiet room and used some CBD before I went into the room and relaxed.

CBD can affect your body and emotions; slower music can quiet your mind and relax your muscles.

Long-term Wellness goals.

what are wellness goals

You will make long-term wellness goals such as “talking to more people and not distant being more social.”

Being more social will be a long-term goal that you can break down into short-term-wellness goals to reach your big goal of talking to more people.

You will want to achieve this goal within two to three months; by breaking this down, you will be able to achieve it faster, or it may take longer but do not give up.

Please do not make your long-term wellness goal too hard or unreachable you will want to make them simple and none stressful.

  • Getting up on time in the morning.
  • Being more active
  • take a social media break
  • be more mindful of yourself and others
  • cut back on junk food

  • do not watch TV for a day at a time

Short-term Wellness Goals

These can be simple and short to get on the track of accomplishing goals. These are breaking down your bigger goals so you can accomplish and achieve within two to three months.

You will take your big goal example- “I want to get more sleep so that I won’t be grumpy in the morning.”

Sleeping is your big goal, and to break this down, you can go to bed earlier than usual, say around 9 o’clock or 10 o’clock; this will give you time to catch up on the sleep you need.

If you only get four to five hours of sleep, you are missing out on two to three hours of sleep that you need to be generated for the next day.

You will want to turn this into a new habit, and by the end of three or two months, you will be getting more sleep than you have before. Leaving you less grumpy and more alert for the day.

  1. Hi Mathew & Delores,
This is a great article that has made pause and reflect and I hope others reading it do too. There are a lot of mental and physical health & wellness ideas and goals you have shared here. Ideas on sleep, going to bed earlier and getting 8 hours sleep is top on my list. Then waking up and stretching at least once in the morning and also evening is good too.

I like how you have shared the vulnerable and real sharing from Dwayne Johnson, Carrie Fisher and others about mental health, this is important and needs to be shared.

People do need to take care of themselves and can use this post as a checklist and set smart goals around each of the areas to target.
    Thanks so much, John

    1. John,
We would like to thank you for stopping in and sharing your thoughts with us, the mental and physical goals are going to be the biggest ones we all struggle on, and getting down to the bottom of this will be your choice. People do need to realize that we need to take care of ourselves and have self-respect for ourselves and make some goals and stick to them. Stretching in the morning is hard and once you build that habit then it will come automatically next time getting it down to form the habit needs to be accomplished.

      Cheers,
      Mathew&Deloris

  2. This is great info on wellness goals. I’ve always been interested in health and wellness. You have provided such valuable info for helping me achieve my wellness goals. Thanks so much!

    1. Alyse,
We Thank you for stopping in, we are glad to have helped you with your wellness goals and we do hope that you come back soon and share what they are with us, it will be more realistic to us all.

      Cheers,

  3. Hi Matthew and Deloris, Yes I think you are bang on the money. I have been thinking about setting some wellness goals myself recently. I have kind of suffered from getting up early. I think I would love to be a bit more motivated but I have found I am still a lot more motivated from just having that desire to do that little bit more. I think to be honest going to bed at 9 pm is a bit too early. In my experience between 10 pm and 11 pm is just fine. For me, I can go to bed and wake up at 5 am or 6 am just fine, and actually, these are my best days. I think if going to bed early is important then so is waking up early as well.

    1. Alex,
Hi there Alex we are glad to hear from you a result of going to bed early will promote better sleep habits that will be beneficial to the way you see things in the morning. You can help yourself with better habits and form good results.

  4. I really enjoyed this article as it covers some great points about setting wellness goals. I set myself the goal of going to bed earlier and turning the laptop off by 11.00pm. It’s certainly helped me wake up earlier and I feel much better for it. Following a healthy diet is a goal everyone should aim for. Not only is it good for your physical health but mental as well.

    1. Kathy,
Yes, this is a good habit to form with turning your computer off earlier than expected we would stay 10 is a good number it’s all about your sweet spot and the way you feel in the morning? Are you still tired, or are you overly tired, so you want to sleep even more than you need to because you went to bed too early?
It is good for mental and physical wellness.

      Cheers,
      Mathew&Deloris

  5. This is a great article for wellness living.
I can really say that wellness does include physical and mental health which is what is helpful when it comes to manifestation of any goal.
I also like the part where you said you never went to a therapist but you used CBD and music. That is what I do as well and it is very helpful.

    1. Thabo,
Yes, you can do your own therapy, and they are going to have you do what you think helps and whatever helps; then, we are hoping that you will stay on track and keep looking back at their wellness goals. We are glad that you enjoyed this as much as we enjoyed making it.

      Cheers,
      Mathew&Deloris

    1. Anjali,
We like to thank you for stopping in and sharing your thoughts with us; wellness living and wellness goals are a big part of our success. pass it on it and share it with everyone.

  6. It’s a wonderful post that I can’t wait to share with my family and friends. I love the idea of making simple and easy steps first and then focus on the long-term plan. When it comes to healthier living, one thing people tend to ignore is mental health. It’s something that could impact our physical health if we try not to take care of it, so I am happy to see that you mention it here.

I would start making room for mindfulness since it will do good for mental and physical health, bringing more light to my daily life. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

    Cheers,
    Matt

    1. Matt,
We like to thank you for sharing with us and considering all this again of keeping your mind healthy and clean; clearer thoughts will be rolling in and being more mindful. Mental health is a big part of physical health; they both play major roles in our lives and don’t even know it. We are just reacters.
We tend to forget or lose touch with our inner-self. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, and we see that you are improving your daily lives.

      Cheers,
      Mathew&Deloris

  7. This is a great article. So many times life gets in the way of putting ourselves first. The post reminded me that, yes, I do need to take care of myself in order to live a more fulfilling life.

I have made many diet goals but come short on mental goals. I like your idea of taking time out for yourself and listening to music. That is a great way to decompress.

Thanks for this article and for reminding me to put myself first. I need to set some long term goals and achieve them through short term ones.

    Great article.
    Nina

    1. Nina,
Mental goals are good to have, and always be remembered by them is great to keep you on track and not fall off the wagon; if you adjust these goals and follow them to the tee, you may be at risk of moving backward. But we did do the whole time out for music time, and I personally think it works. It gets you in a new mood and can help level your thoughts out as well.
It seems like you are on the right track to keep your goals aligned together and have long-term goals and short-term goals to achieve the long term over time.

      Cheers,
      Mathew&Deloris

  8. I eat a lot of vegetables and I have several fruit trees on my property. Although some are still small in size they are already growing some fruits which is amazing.
I don’t go to the gym but I take frequent breaks during the day and then I got for short walks. I also do a little bit of exercise sometimes, not every day, but often enough.
Stretching is so important, isn’t it? There was a time when I couldn’t stretch for months due to a back injury (stretching was too painful to do), and it weakened my muscles. I am glad I have healed and I can stretch again 🙂 It makes such a difference.

    1. Christine,
We are sure glad to see that you are back again so soon, we have seen all the stretching and exercise you receive is enough to keep you as moving and limber as possible, the gym can be a hassle these days. Doing things at home seems to be more of the thing these days because of the Covid-19 scenario. Glad to see that you are still making goals in the pandemic.

      Cheers,
      Mathew&Deloris

  9. Hey guys, thank you for your great post about need of wellness. I think everyone needs wellness, as routine. How often it should be is individual I think, but consistency is the key.
I am sportsman so I do require some quality sauna time 1-2 times a week. Besides that I started actually from January 1st this year stretching (outside my regular training) and the benefits are just amazing. Also the other tips you mentioned like going in/out of bed in regular time, cutting junk food or being without phone and TV can benefit hugely. Cheers guys

    1. Julius,
Thank you for your update on how you take care of yourself or treat after sports; you go to the sauna 1-2 times a week; this is perfect for others to see there are many different activities you can do. Thanks again for sharing your ways of how you get your wellness goals met. Stretching is a big key to working out and maintaining your muscles, and retaining proteins right.
Nowadays, the T.V and phones can be the biggest distractions to overcoming things getting done throughout the day (productivity).

      Cheers,
      Mathew&Deloris

  10. M & D,

Wellness goals are very important. I actually have a BA in Nutrition, and I’ve always had some sort of healthy goals in my mind, no matter what stage of life I’m in. It’s hard for some to have realistic goals, and that often throws people for a loop. I always tell everyone, be realistic. Don’t look to the past on what you “used to be”, look to what you can achieve now, today, and be healthy about it. Also, it doesn’t matter if the goal is to lose weight, stop being stressed, or even just something so simple as your feet feeling better at work. Make attainable goals, and strive for them, little by little.

Great article and great information! Thanks for sharing!

    Katrina

    1. Katrina,m
We like to thank you for stopping in and sharing your thoughts with us; you are right about you must be realistic with yourself, or it will not ever follow through; this is true and making attainable goals is the key.

      Cheers,
      Mathew&Deloris

  11. I like this article for two reasons. 1. I want to be well and healthy. And 2. I always set goals for most things in my life.
I think the new year is a great time to evaluate our lives, not just wellness, but all areas. I have spiritual and emotional goals also. It is important to evaluate these as the year progresses.
I don’t watch tv at all. It is mostly garbage and a waste of time. And the news is so anxiety producing! How can you maintain your mental health when you are watching the news? I get information from headlines I read, the weather channel and some social media. Even that is getting to be a waste of time.
The takeaway from this article is that I alone am responsible for my health and wellness, and I must do all I can to insure that.

    1. Barbra,
We have to agree that you are the only one responsible for health and wellness. When it comes to this article, we are trying to reach everyone who understands how important your health is. While making this article, we tried to identify the right and wrong points of one health. We found that there is only one, which is ourselves wanting to change.

      Cheers,
      MnD

  12. If there is a wellness goal that I need to commit to, it is keeping to a set bed time or making sure I get a certain number of hours sleep regularly. I have been dosing during the day at work lately and it is partly due to sleep derivation, So your post has come to me at a good time.

    Thanks for sharing.
    femi

    1. Femi,
Well, we hope you do get a goodnight’s rest that your body needs, we are glad that this article made it to you in time of need funny how things work out.

      Cheers,
      MnD
